Mission Church (first) is built.

The wood-frame building is located on the former site of Datchet House at today’s 1545 Tremont Street. The congregation was established as an outgrowth of a mission established by the German Sons of St. Alphonsus (Redemptorists) in 1869 and met initially in the Datchet House. Joseph Wissel the first pastor. The church is replaced by a much larger stone building in 1878.*
